It was on August 9, 2009 that117 students from 12 campuses of the City Montessori School (CMS) met five members of the World Unity Education Department (WUED) at the CMS Gomti Nagar Auditorium for the 5th Sunday Seminar. The participating students filled up their attendance sheets with the help of Mrs Sangeeta Negi, Assistant Co coordinator, Sunday Seminar, while they lent their ears to super hit French songs that echoed in the auditorium.
The day began in earnest when Mr Raza Hasnain Naqvi, Chief Coordinator, Sunday Seminar, invited two boys and two girls to explain the nitty-gritty of the Sunday Seminar sessions and the meanings of the keywords, mind, voice and lead. Sajjal Singh, class IX D, CMS Gomti Nagar Campus explained the significance of the Sunday Seminar sessions elucidating on the many things that he had got to learn from them. Students from CMS Mahanagar Campus II brought out the meanings of 'mind' and 'voice': Unnati Kala, class VII A, CMS explained the meaning of ‘mind’, Ayush Priyansh Tripathi, class VII A, explained the meaning of ‘voice’. Priya Singh, class IX A, CMS Station Road Campus clarified the meaning of ‘lead’.
The students were reminded of the three words that the mike loves: slow, clear, and close when they watched a video of US President Barack Obama delivering a speech soon after his election as the 44th President of the United States. The importance of efficient communication in our daily lives was brought out by this.
In the next presentation, the students were made to realise that the meaning of a citizen of a nation is arrived at by virtue of being born in that country. It is important for them to realise that they are world citizens because they are born in the world. The realisation is important because only those students lucky enough to attend the Sunday Seminar sessions can enjoy the realisation.
The refreshments break ended with student presentations. The series of presentations began with a dance presentation by Unnati Kala and Swati Singh, class VIIA, CMS Mahanagar Campus-II. This was followed by a skit on the murder of Julius Caesar by students from CMS Mahanagar Campus-II: Abhishek Patel, class ? , Aman Bhargava, Ayush Tripathi, Ayush Priyansh Tripathi, Raj Vardhan Singh, Siddarth Singh, and Unnati Kala, class VII A, along with Ujjwal Kala, class IX B, actively participated in the play.
The session got a boost in the arm when CMS Founder-Manager, Mr Jagdish Gandhi joined in. He said that we need to change the entire social structure to prevent calamities and destructive activities like war. It is only through the present generation that we can bring about the desired change in the society. Only the present generation could bring in a world government to deliver us from contemporary problems. Sunday Seminar sessions could prove to be wonderful efforts in this direction.
As a sequel to the student presentations, the theme of world peace and world unity was highlighted in the skit by CMS Kanpur Road Campus. The participants were Navneet, Class VIII A, Abhay, class VIII C, Anchal, IX F, Shraddha, class IX C, Prateek and Saurabh, class IX A. Sunday Giveaway was another steal again. Monster Truck Madness 2, a game CD, Kim by Rudyard Kipling and another book, Only God were kept apart as the prizes. There was a mad rush to put in the bell-jar the slips of the aspirants for these objects. Kirti V, class VII A, CMS RDSO Campus was lucky enough to get the book, Kim. Vijendra, class VII B, CMS Indira Nagar Campus walked away with Only God. A coin was finally tossed to decide the fate of the CD. The competitors were selected from the pile of slips of names: Azam Shafiq, class IX B, CMS Kanpur Road Campus, and Anchal. Azam got the CD in the end.
The pile of slips was again resorted to for the giving away of two flutes, one which did not work, and the other that worked. Sumit Verma, class VIII A , CMS RDSO Campus got the flute that worked. Shubham Singh, class VIIIA, CMS Indira Nagar Cmpus could have walked away with the flute had he been able blow it, but since he could not, the pile of names revealed the name of Shashank, class VIII A, CMS Indira Nagar Campus, who got the flute because he could blow it.
